Ostmann Elementary began its second annual Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Olympics. Students in Kdg, 2nd and 3rd grade competed in December. Students in 1st, 4th and 5th grade competed in January. Each classroom participated in STEM competitions during their scheduled library class.  Students worked in small groups and were challenged to engineer a product with specific materials in a constrained amount of time. The challenge was different for each grade level. The group from each grade level with the best score was invited to represent Ostmann Elementary at the 2nd Annual Fort Zumwalt School District STEM challenge.  Grade level teams completed STEM activities in a competition format with other grade level teams from other elementary schools in the district. Winners of the district challenge will have the opportunity to go on to the St. Charles County-Wide S.T.E.M. Competition.
